Of course, an overhaul or repair is necessary if the watch no longer functions properly. Under normal use, a comprehensive overhaul is normally only necessary after about 3 years. However, in terms of water resistance and the crown, a repair or inspection is urgently required after just one year, especially if the watch is worn regularly.

During partial repair, for example
– replace the glass (if no splinters have penetrated the work),
– the gear is readjusted (e.g. after a knock or fall),
– the crown/pusher or another part is replaced.

A complete overhaul is required after approx. 3-5 years; the first step is to overhaul the system:
– an external inspection of the case, dial and hands is carried out
– measured the rate values on the time scale
– a test of waterproofness is carried out
– Clean the housing before opening to prevent dirt from getting in
– After opening, the inside of the housing is also cleaned and the oil condition checked
– the movement is now completely disassembled, the parts cleaned and oiled, the rubber seals replaced and the water resistance restored
– After assembly and insertion into the case, the rate is checked for several days in various positions (lying down and on the watch winder – Zyklomat)
