Newport is a coastal town in Rhode Island, USA. Founded in 1639, it is known as New England’s summer resort and is famous for its historic mansions. It was an important port city in the 18th century and is also home to a large number of preserved buildings from the colonial era of the United States.

From the mid-nineteenth century, wealthy planters from the South began to build summer houses and larger villas on Bellevue Avenue. At the turn of the 20th century, many of the nation’s wealthiest families gathered in Newport.

Alexander Shorokhov knows the rich history of Newport and the revolutionary movement. The philosophy and cultural influence combine both. The result was a wonderful idea that led to a remarkable collaboration: a special Newport watch for the American distributor Ray Grenon, designed by Alexander Shorokhoff.

The dial with the beautiful hand-engraved villa plays the main role, as the production was very elaborate. It is made of silver and has been blackened to give it a three-dimensional look. The lettering on the building was industrially produced and fits perfectly into the overall picture. The back is enameled. The ladies’ watch is limited to 39 pieces, the men’s watch to 16 pieces.

As the first collaboration was very successful, both partners decided to make a second version available from Newport.

The new version of the Newport watch emphasizes the maritime theme of the port city. Alexander Shorokhoff shows a beautiful color palette here. The large square is coated with blue metallic and the small square, on which the second hand is located, is gold-plated. The striped hands fit in perfectly with the theme.
