MERKUR
Date, week, month, moon in one rhythm.

Alexander Shorokhoff once again impresses with a design innovation in the form of a full calendar. The new model, called “Merkur” is a special watch that, in addition to displaying the current time, also indicates the date, day of the week, and month. Unlike a simple date display that only shows the current date, a full calendar provides a more comprehensive date function. A watch with a full calendar is, therefore, a practical option for those who like to have all important date information at a glance.

The name “Merkur” was inspired by the planet of the same name in the solar system. With its crater- covered surface reminiscent of the moon, it seamlessly integrates into the design concept of the new model.

The day is indicated by the central date hand with an orange tip, while the day of the week and the month are displayed at 12 o’clock. In addition, the “Merkur” offers another feature that displays the current lunar phase at 6 o’clock. It shows how the moon appears in the sky and in which phase it is. This is designed as a representation of the moon as a small disc that slowly moves over the course of a month to depict various moon phases such as full moon, half-moon, new moon, and waning moon. During a full moon, the orange “sphere” appears precisely in the center of the aperture, opposite the marking for 29.5 days, which is the time it takes for the moon to orbit the Earth once and go through all its phases. The lunar phase display is an aesthetic and traditional feature in many wristwatches and is often integrated into watches for enthusiasts of astronomical details or watch collectors. The planet Mercury is located very close to the sun and is therefore constantly exposed to solar radiation and solar winds. For this reason, the planet has a yellow-orange hue that perfectly complements the orange-glowing lunar phase as its inspiration.

The color selection for this model was done very thoughtfully as well. The harmonious combination of rich green, warm gold tones, and vibrant orange in the calf leather strap, the date hand, and the lunar phase creates a balanced and appealing color palette.

Inside, the “Merkur” houses the automatic caliber DD9000 by Dubois Depraz, whose hand-engraved and embellished rotor embodies the essence of craftsmanship mastery. With its blued screws and the precision of 25 jewels adorning the movement, it is a true expression of precision and elegance. The power reserve of approximately 42 hours ensures that this watch not only measures time but also endures through time. With a limited production of only 31 pieces, the new model is a true rarity.
