The production of a one-of-a-kind item as part of a private-label order requires additional development and manufacturing processes in addition to the usual steps involved in series production. First, an individual design must be created and coordinated. The required components are then manufactured or specially commissioned from suppliers. The production of individual parts often requires new tools or special production steps, the costs of which cannot be spread across a larger quantity when producing a single item. After manufacturing, the components must be individually assembled, inspected, and adjusted. For these reasons, the price of a private-label one-off production is generally significantly higher than the price of a comparable model from the regular collection.
