Of course, an overhaul or repair is necessary if the watch no longer functions properly. Under normal use, a comprehensive overhaul is normally only necessary after about 3 years. However, in terms of water resistance and the crown, a repair or inspection is urgently required after just one year, especially if the watch is worn regularly.

Partial repairs involve replacing the glass, for example
(if no splinters have penetrated the movement),
– readjusting the gear (e.g. after a knock or fall),
– replacing the crown/pusher or another part.

A complete overhaul is required after approx. 3-5 years; first of all:
– an external inspection of the case, dial and hands is carried out
– the rate values are checked on the timing scales
– a water-resistance test is carried out
– the case is cleaned before opening to ensure that no dirt can penetrate
– after opening, the case is also cleaned inside and the oil condition is checked
– the movement is now completely disassembled, the parts are cleaned and oiled, the rubber seals are replaced and the water resistance is restored
– after reassembly and insertion into the case, the movement is checked for several days in various positions (lying down and on the watch winder – Zyklomat)
