“Feeling, not calculation, is always right”. This is how the Russian painter and avant-gardist Wassily Kandinsky described the human urge to desire and own something beautiful, artistic and rare.

For years, male watch enthusiasts have been asking for a proper successor to the “Miss Avantgarde” watch, the most successful model in the avant-garde line by “Alexander Shorokhoff”, in its “greatness”. And now the time has come. The new “Kandy Avantgarde” model leads the Avantgarde collection – just in time for this year’s Baselworld 2018 trade fair.
Alexander Shorokhov’s design philosophy remained unchanged: the aim was to create an extraordinary, avant-garde, bold, modern, yet elegant watch that is suitable for everyday use and not only generates emotions, but can also be worn well. And the most important criterion – being able to read the time quickly and easily – has also been retained.

When you look at the model, you can immediately see that the designer has definitely put the motto “art on the wrist” into practice. All elements, such as the dial, the hands, the case and the strap, have been combined and color-coordinated with great sensitivity. However, the many colors and shapes do not create chaos and do not appear overloaded, but rather give the viewer the feeling that everything is in its place; indeed, they even create a feeling of lightness and fascination. The traditions of the avant-gardists Kandinsky, Malevich, Hundertwasser and Gaudi are masterfully continued here.

Alexander Shorokhov opted for a rectangular shape for the case, while using round shapes for the dial and case back. The bold colors red and black are combined with pastel shades such as light blue or orange on the dial. On the side of the case, precious wire made of red gold and steel with a black PVD coating has been used in the recesses provided for this purpose. However, all these contrasts are not in confrontation with each other, but complement each other to form a harmonious unit – the fascinating “Kandy Avantgarde” watch.

The movement is the flat and highly reliable ETA caliber 2892, with a hand-engraved and refined rotor. The most important timekeeping functions – hours, minutes, seconds and date – are included.

The Kandy Avantgarde is truly a creative example of art on the wrist and an absolute eye-catcher. It is no coincidence that this masterpiece, limited to just 100 pieces, was awarded the German Design Award “WINNER 2019” by the German Design Council.
